Line Dancing

I watch the wet washing as it billows
 in the blustery breeze
the shirts soak up the sunlight
as they haphazardly dance upon their tightrope
so trying to escape their tethered prison

I change my camera settings and I dart amongst
the furious folds of cotton

I am compelled to capture these stunning shapes and smiles.

Post of the day at Authorblog, thank you  David!!!

You are waxing lyrical! Lovely poem and photos! Showery, here, today, I'm afraid. It is great to be able to dry your washing outside, isn't it?

I love that you dry your clothes on a line. They smell so good, and it's good for the earth. Your photos are especially nice in black and white. Like capturing a picture of the wind.

Did you get your book, A River Runs Through It, started? I didn't even think about spoiling the story for readers--sorry--and right away after reading your comment, I put a note about that into the post. ♥

Loved the use of the pictures to prove your point of the clothes "dancing" on the line. Great shots, great post.

That was a very enjoyable read and put my head in a very happy place. Thank you!
AND, I don't consider you frumpy in the slightest!

I've given up hanging washing out - it annoys the Weather Gods more than anything else I know.

Billy Connolly tells a story from David Hockney, who was a neighbor in California (the unforgettable Pearblossom Highway). David's mother was visiting from Bradford, Yorkshire, in the UK. One morning, gazing out over some of the most expensive real estate in the world, Mrs. Hockney sighed, "A lovely drying day like today, and not a washing line in sight!"

I'm liking the black and white on these shirts. And I'm feeling terribly failed as I've only gotten my laundry out once this year.

Darling, I did read this, and your other new post, but have been brain dead for the last couple of days. This is perfect, and I can smell that wonderful freshness that you just can't reproduce in a tumble dryer.XX

We don't have clotheslines here and I find that really strange - especially in a world that is trying to save energy.

I miss that smell - fresh off the line - but not the ironing.

Besides - it snowed here - again - no sign of spring around here yet except for the green grass peeping through the white.
